Minutes, Correspondence, Reports, and Subject Files 1963-1987; 1983-1985.

This series comprises program files retained by the office of the Secretary for South Asia, South Pacific, and Madagascar relating to TALC work in Madagascar. They are from 1963-1987 with the bulk of material dating from 1983-1985. Types of material include printed minutes, handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, printed topical progress reports and updates, printed informational reports, budgets, financial statements, newsletters, and subject files pertaining to various programs supported by the DWMIC. The majority of folders, except for those with printed minutes or reports, contain primarily correspondence. Upon examination of the records, given what is included in TALC 14/6/8 Madagascar Files, 1960-1972, there appears to be a gap in records available for Madagascar from approximately 1972-1979. The reason for this gap is not known. It may be that TALC Madagascar records are included in the record group ELCA 24, The Division for Global Mission (DGM). Unfortunately many of those TALC records are interfiled with Lutheran Church in America (LCA) records and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) records and cannot be easily separated. Folders with only TALC records were removed and placed in this series. Architectural drawings were placed in an oversized folder marked TALC 16 in the mapcase area. A notation was made on the drawing indicating to which subseries it corresponds.
